Can my boss put a GPS tracking device on MY privatley owned car? Can I have websites for laws like this?
The company pays me a certain amount of money for gas every month.

- If he is paying you to drive your car to different locations then he could probably require you to carry one.
- No he cannot. He can go to jail for stalking and invasion of privacy and other charges. UNLESS- You are using your vehicle for employment, and it is a requirement of your job, then he can with your permission. If he is paying you to deliver, time, etc, then he has a right to if it is a requirement of employment.
- NO he can't, It's your car, But he could make you carry a tracking device on your person. The same way some company's require employees to carry radios with them.
- It depends. Is driving part of your job? Does the company pay you while you are out in your car? Maybe you are a sales or service person and you are on the clock even when not in the office? If so I could see them wanting you to carry a GPS unit. Can they force you to carry one? No, you can quit if you don't like it.
- If there was a way to ensure it was programmed to only be active while you are on the clock, maybe, but, otherwise, I would suggest it is an unwarranted and illegal invasion of privacy. It is no business of his whether you go to Wal-Mart or Sears, McDonalds or Pizza Hut, after work or on weekends, or even cruise the red light district! I don't know of any websites that would have laws on this, because I don't know if such a law even exists, but you don't need a specific law to challenge something.
