Any portable GPS systems available that I can use in any part of the world?

I travel a lot, I would like to purchase a nice (affordable) GPS system that I could used anywhere inside my car.,

1. TOM TOM is universal around the world, It was originally made for Europe.
2. A word of caution. In many countries, GPS is still considered hi tech military equipment. For this reason, having in your possession or using GPS in certain countries carries a risk. Travelers have been detained, questioned or worse for using GPS in some areas. Once you've eliminated the risk factor, a good buy would be brands like Garmin Nuvi series. Its features are universal and all you need is to load the different maps of countries you travel too.
