What differentiates cheaper gps systems from the expensive ones?
Is it number of "hotspots" saved to the system? Do they play mp3s, have various voice/language types? Just curious as to what kind to get as a gift for a friend.

- Bells & whistles. More features, essentially. More memory for more maps if you travel across country. Larger displays. Voice directions. On-the-fly rapid recalculation if you miss your street. Subscriptions for free map updates as roads change.
- Number of hotspots, detail of voice (like some say street names and some don't) features like chiming before a turn, etc. Mine has all those.. I have the Garmin 660 I think it's amazing.. I bought it from amazon I couldn't believe they had it like $400 off and I got it for the same price as the lower low models ..
