bt gps keeps resetting on imate k-jam with tomtom?

i have a imate k-jam and a socket communications gps receiver running tom tom. i can pair other devices with the phone but after pairing the gps and starting tomtom it starts for 1 session and after tomtom is restarted the gps is lost and i have to repair the device with the phone. very annoying.
