Can installing a car radio damage your heather/AC?

Hello, I recently purchased an 2007 Chevy Equinox, I took it to the dealer today to have the heater/AC repaired (Air only blows out top vents, and feet vents. The vents at face level do not work.) The dealer says the Radio/GPS I had installed may of damaged it. The Radio was a in-dash Pioneer GPS Navigation, DVD, CD, XM Radio and back up camera in which was installed by a reputable company. The dealer claims this voided the Platinum warranty we paid upwards of $5,000 for less then a month ago. We have spoke with other dealerships and they require me to bring it in and pay them. The dealership I bought the car from has been so far nothing but a scam, Which is why I am needing further information. Can installing a Pioneer In-Dash GPS in place of a factory radio in-deed damage the Heater/AC - The Air Blows out of the Defroster and top of the dash vents only, the main vents on the front of the dash at head level do not blow. Your assistance would be appreciated.

  1. I don't see how installing a radio would hurt anything unless you have wires touching, but to answer your question, no. I do see how changing someing that is not factory can void you warranty.
  2. Installing a head unit has nothing to do with AC/Heat. Were the vents working before you had it installed? And installing a new head unit shouldn't void any warranty, if worse comes to worst, call a lawyer of some sort and get it figured out, it sounds like they are trying to get more money that you shouldn't be paying.
  3. it can only get that way if U bought it like that or U noticed it after the new radio,,,if the latter, that reputable co. is liable,,,maybe was already like that and U did'nt check-it cause it was cold/or could'nt be felt,,,,,,uh-oh the pioneer radio's dimensions are LONGER than the chevy's factory so maybe it pushed the vent connections outta place,,get a buddy to check-it out for y,,,next time replace all factory--stuff before going to the factory as this can VOID the warranty,,,
