GPS software for trail riding?

I'm looking for GPS software that can be used on the trails in the mountions. then down loaded in to my computor on a map to show where I've been.

1. Pretty much any portable GPS receiver would work for what you are looking to do - probably a Garmin eTrex would be good for you. They are hardy little devices that can take a little bit of abuse out in the field without getting broken. For viewing your tracks on your computer Google Earth, which a really good price (it's free) wins hands down for ease of use and excellent base-map backgrounds so you can see the terrain you've actually been to in pictures shot with a satellite.
