GPS: Is there a way I can download POI locations to update my current software for free?

I have a PIVA GPS system, do I need to find out what type of software it runs in order to update it?

1. I am not sure about piva, but I know that you can find free POI files for all the other popular GPS brands here: http://www.gps-data-team.com/poi/
2. i have a piva 350 the company was sold so there are no updates but there has to be software that will work with that system. garmin sd card or tele atlas maps i am working on it.
