what is the difference between the Tom Tom and Garmin GPS systems?

I am thinking about getting one. I know Garmin is highly rated but so is Tom Tom. A lot of people prefer Tom Tom and it is about $20 less expensive than the Garmin. Just wondering the main difference. Let's say between the Tom Tom One and the Garmin 200?

1. I have used them both, and they're both fine units. I prefer the Garmin nuvi 200 though because I found it easier to use and the touchscreen was more sensitive. On the TomTom, I had to press down a lot harder for the touch to be recognized. I recommend you go to a store that carries both of the units and play around with them to see what looks and feels best for you.
