do gps systems that are bought in the usa work in canada?

My family and I are going on a trip to canada and are wondering if we could use our gps system to get around. it's brand is amcor, if that has anything to do with it.

  1. Yes, they will work everywhere in the world. However, you need map databases for the part of the world you will be traveling to make the information relevant.
  2. PND GPS will offer lat long information but if you wish to have turn by turn street map directions, you will have to buy a GPS system that includes North America maps and not the lower end model that may only offer U.S 48 State maps. Be sure to buy a system that includes NA maps and you should be fine in Canada. Amcor GPS uses Tele Atlas map software and iGo software, depending on which model you own you may or may not have Canada map coverage.
